Wisconsin Governor Signs Bill to Protect Children and Pets Trapped in Hot Cars

Gov. Scott Walker has signed AB 308, which will protect people who break into a vehicle to free a child or animal believed to be endangered by temperatures inside that vehicle. Melissa Tedrowe, Wisconsin state director for The Humane Society of the United States, issued the following statement:

“Many people don’t realize how quickly the inside of a car can heat up, even on seemingly mild weather days. We’re grateful to Governor Walker and the Wisconsin legislature for creating this important and sensible law that protects people who act in good faith when they believe a child or animal is threatened.”
