A poll conducted by the Environics Research Group shows 82% of Canadians support banning the commercial trade in polar bear parts on the international market under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).

Experts Critical of Proposed California Bear Hunt Changes
A leading environmental attorney and wildlife biologist filed comments with the California Fish and Game Commission citing serious concerns with state proposals to expand bear hunting. They said the California Department of Fish and Game’s plans to increase hunting are unscientific and do not meet appropriate legal requirements.

Canadian Gov't. Increases 2010 Seal Slaughter Quota by 50,000
HSI condemns the irresponsible harp seal quota set by the Canadian government for 2010. Canada will allow seal hunters to slaughter 388,200 harp, grey and hooded seals this year, an increase of 50,000 from 2009.
