HSVMA to Offer Complimentary Memberships to Veterinary Professionals Participating in Spay Day 2010
Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association is pleased to announce its partnership with Spay Day 2010 and is encouraging veterinary professionals to participate in this campaign to encourage spaying or neutering pets. HSVMA will offer complimentary memberships to veterinary professionals that participate in registered Spay Day events.
"Veterinary professionals should take a leadership in this issue, and in promoting sterilization of pets," said Dr. Eric Davis of HSVMA. "Veterinary professionals in particular have a unique and important role in the success of this campaign. In addition to performing thousands of surgeries during Spay Day and the month of February, they are an integral link in providing client and public education about the importance of sterilization to companion animals."
Veterinary professionals who choose to be recognized by HSVMA will be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Animal Care Expo in May. For detailed information about this offer, see our contest rules.
Spay Day is the annual campaign of The Humane Society of the United States and Humane Society International to inspire people to save animal lives by spaying or neutering pets. Working closely with Spay Day, HSVMA has helped create a public service announcement that can be viewed here.
The HSUS is running a Spay Day Online Pet Photo Contest, featuring a chance to win prizes and help raise funds for lifesaving spay/neuter surgeries. For information on the contest, visit humanesociety.org/photocontest. The Spay Day Online Pet Photo Contest is presented by Visa Inc. and Zazzle.
Donations from Spay Day have allowed HSVMA to expand its vital work in providing no-cost treatment to animals in underserved rural areas in the United States and abroad. In 2009, HSVMA provided treatment to more than 8,000 animals, while giving valuable hands-on training to veterinary students. As a part of Spay Day 2010, HSVMA, along with local volunteers, will be performing spays/neuters at Monterey County Animal Services in Salinas, Calif. on Feb. 20 and 27.
