Michael Vick Featured in New PSA Promoting Animal Fighting Tip Line
Educational video featuring Vick’s message to youth also released by The Humane Society of the United States
The Humane Society of the United States released a 30-second video public service announcement featuring Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick urging viewers to report animal cruelty and fighting activities in their communities to our toll-free animal fighting tip line. Vick is also featured in a new two-minute educational video from The HSUS’s Pets for Life program featuring a direct message from him to young people, encouraging them to treat animals with kindness and care for their pets.
The videos were debuted to Simon Gratz High School students in Philadelphia on Friday.
An ambassador in the effort to prevent dogfighting
“Michael Vick served time for illegal dogfighting, and he’s an important ambassador for the message that dogfighting is cruel, that it’s a felony, and that we must be good to animals,” said Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of The Humane Society of the United States. “Mike has been making appearances for HSUS’s anti-dogfighting campaign, and these videos will broaden our audience and remind people to report animal fighting crimes and help to build humane communities.”

Pets for Life
Pets for Life is a program of The HSUS that extends the reach of animal services by bringing critical resources such as vaccinations, spaying and neutering, dog training, and other animal care and wellness tools to under-served areas. The program is currently operating in inner-city areas of Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
The HSUS Animal Fighting Tip Line
The HSUS’s animal fighting tip line (877-TIP-HSUS) is a national toll-free phone line to report dogfighting and cockfighting activities. The line is answered by experienced HSUS staff who work with law enforcement to investigate reported cases of animal fighting. The HSUS offers a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of animal fighters.
The HSUS is committed to end animal fighting
The HSUS is the only national animal protection organization with a dedicated unit to crack down on dogfighting and cockfighting. The group has upgraded federal and state laws to combat animal fighting, has trained hundreds of law enforcement officers on animal fighting investigations, and has paid out more than one hundred rewards to tipsters who reported information that led to animal fighting convictions. As part of The HSUS’s outreach to at-risk youth, Michael Vick has spoken to more than 15,000 kids around the country and urged them not to go down the dead-end path of dogfighting.
