Top Ten Emergency Placement Partners of 2013

The HSUS recognizes dedicated work of animal welfare organizations across the U.S.

The Humane Society of the United States has named its top ten Emergency Placement Partners for 2013. Emergency Placement Partners are local animal agencies that work with The HSUS to provide ongoing care and find permanent homes for animals saved during large-scale rescue missions, including natural disasters, puppy mills, extreme neglect and animal fighting. The HSUS has nearly 300 Placement Partners nationwide.

Michelle Cascio, manager of the Emergency Placement Program for The HSUS said: “Although every placement partner is deeply valued, these ten groups went above and beyond to help animals rescued from large-scale crisis situations. Throughout the year, they showed tireless enthusiasm and dedication to helping animals. All of our Emergency Placement Partners are critical to our mission to end animal suffering and cruelty, and we are so grateful for their continued support and willingness to help animals in need.”

After The HSUS rescues animals from cruelty situations or natural disasters and provides them the veterinary and other care they immediately need, the organization works with Emergency Placement Partners to help in the animals long-term recovery and placement. As groups with access to local resources, these organizations provide the animals with continued veterinary care, rehabilitation, and ultimately, placement in loving homes. The HSUS has donated to the top ten Placement Partners as a thank you for their dedication to helping rescued animals recover and find loving homes.
