Hawaii Governor Urged to Sign Animal-Protection Bills
The Hawaii State Legislature unanimously passed a number of animal protection bills to strengthen animal cruelty laws, help residents find rental housing that accepts pets, and make other improvements for animals in state policy. These bills now go to Gov. Neil Abercrombie for his approval.

Every Leading Canadian Supermarket Chain Takes Stand against Controversial Pig Cages
The Retail Council of Canada announced that all eight of the largest Canadian supermarket chains—Walmart Canada, Costco Canada, Metro, Loblaw, Safeway Canada, Federated Co-operatives, Sobeys and Co-op Atlantic—will move away from gestation crate confinement of pigs in their supply systems over the next nine years.
