A Talent for Helping Animals
Singing sensation Jackie Evancho becomes The HSUS’s youngest Ambassador for Animals
“Dream With Me” is the name of singer Jackie Evancho’s new album. But when it comes to animals, Evancho is doing more than just dreaming. Proving age is no barrier to taking action, the 11-year-old soprano prodigy who wowed the nation on “America’s Got Talent” is now an HSUS Celebrity Ambassador for Animals.
Evancho has been named an ambassador for our Mission: Humane program, which shows kids how they can help animals. The young superstar is bringing the message of animal protection to her fans through her website, where Mission: Humane is prominently featured. With “Dream With Me” sure to be a chart-topper, that means thousands of visitors to her site will learn how they can make the world safer and happier for animals.
It started with seals
She first got involved with The HSUS through our Protect Seals campaign. We contacted Evancho after hearing an interview in which she expressed her concern for seals who fall victim to Canada’s annual baby seal slaughter. In support of the campaign and its boycott of Canadian seafood, Evancho gave a special performance at a Chefs for Seals event in Los Angeles earlier this year. It turned out to be an emotional high point of the evening—you can catch part of her moving performance in our exclusive video below.
A herd at home
At home, Evancho has her own herd of animals to take care of, with more than a dozen pets including dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. Now, through her role as an Ambassador for Animals, she’s taking her love for animals to an international stage.
