Hawaii Governor Urged to Sign Animal-Protection Bills
The Hawaii State Legislature unanimously passed a number of animal protection bills to strengthen animal cruelty laws, help residents find rental housing that accepts pets, and make other improvements for animals in state policy. These bills now go to Gov. Neil Abercrombie for his approval.

Animal Advocates Rally at Oregon Capitol to Call for Stronger Trapping Restrictions
As part of Humane Lobby Day 2013, citizens from across Oregon rallied at the state capital to urge passage of S.B. 494, which would increase protections for pets and wildlife by restricting recreational and commercial trapping.

The HSUS Condemns Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Position on Pet Safety and Trapping
The Humane Society of the United States strongly criticized the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife and the Oregon Trappers Association for shameful disregard of pet safety on public lands during trapping season, which began Nov. 15.

Humane Society International announced the official launch of its office in India at an event in Mumbai featuring His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who spoke movingly about compassion for animals and the responsibility that all of us have to act with intentionality in protecting them from human-caused cruelty.
