    More Than 200 Animals Rescued from Alleged Cruelty in Alabama

    The HSUS assisted the Houston County Sheriff’s Department with the rescue orf more than 200 dogs and cats who were found living in deplorable conditions in Gordon, Ala. The animals were removed from Dirty Sally’s Pet Pals, a non-profit organization that claims to offer animals for adoption.

    Animal Advocates Lobby Oklahoma Lawmakers for Animal Welfare Legislation

    Citizens from across Oklahoma participating in The HSUS' Humane Lobby Day 2011 met with lawmakers Monday at the Capitol to urge them to oppose SB773 which would significantly weaken the Commercial Pet Breeders Act which was passed in 2010 to crack down on puppy mills in Oklahoma. Citizen lobbyists will also ask legislators to strengthen penalties for spectators at dogfights.
