The Humane Society of the United States and Born Free USA Praise Hawaii Governor for Signing Bear Bile Prohibition into Law
The HSUS, on behalf of its more than 50,000 members and supporters across Hawaii, and Born Free USA thanked Gov. Neil Abercrombie for signing House Bill 2296, prohibiting the sale of possession of bear bile, gallbladder and other bear parts, into law earlier this week.

The HSUS conducted an analysis of California Department of Fish and Game law enforcement reports from 2007-2012 and found more than 500 incidents related to illegal hounding activities and bear and bobcat poaching.

Research on Hound Hunting Commissioned by The Humane Society of the United States Confirms Harmful Consequences for Many Wildlife Species
New scientific findings by a leading conservation biologist support a ban on hound hunting of black bears and bobcats. Rick Hopkins, principal and senior conservation biologist for one of California’s foremost ecological consulting firms, shared his findings in a letter to Sen.
