More than 100 New York City area pet stores have signed The HSUS' puppy friendly pet store pledge — committing not to sell puppies, but instead support local animal adoption programs or provide literature to help customers learn how to locate a reputable breeder.

Missouri Puppy Mill Initiative Certified for November Ballot
A citizens’ initiative supported by The HSUS to promote more humane treatment of dogs in Missouri’s large-scale commercial puppy mills has been certified by the Missouri Secretary of State’s office. The Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act will appear on the November ballot.
