Fur Labeling Loophole Closes Friday – Retailers Urged to Comply
After years of unlabeled animal fur duping consumers who thought they were buying fake fur, a new federal law taking effect tomorrow requires that all garments made of animal fur must disclose the fur content on the label, regardless of dollar value.

Falsely Advertised, Mislabeled Raccoon Dog Fur Sold by Neiman Marcus
The HSUS revealed through laboratory testing that a St. John brand jacket advertised by Neiman Marcus in VOGUE and W magazines is not dyed “raccoon” fur, as described at NeimanMarcus.com and on the garment’s tag, but actually raccoon dog.

Animal Fur Sold as Fake at Barneys New York
The HSUS revealed through laboratory testing that a Phillip Lim brand parka sold online by Barneys New York as “faux fur” is real animal fur, and that the same Phillip Lim parka was sold in the Manhattan flagship store without the “real fur” label required by New York state law.
