The Humane Society of the United States has provided an emergency grant of $3,000 to Farmington Pet Adoption Center to cover repairs after electrical system problems resulted in a number of small fires and partial loss of heat within the shelter.

The Humane Society of the United States applauds the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for passing House Bill 82, to require alleged animal abusers to pay reasonable costs to care for their animals after seizure. The vote was 163-84.

Thanks to the efforts of volunteers and local advocates of The Humane Society of the United States, 80 Los Angeles-area pet stores have signed The HSUS’s Puppy Friendly Pet Stores pledge — committing not to sell puppies, and instead support local animal adoption programs and provide literature that helps customers learn how to get a puppy from a responsible source.
