In Re: The HSUS, et al. (North Atlantic right whale critical habitat petition)

Formal petition to the National Marine Fisheries Service to expand critical habitat for the endangered North Atlantic right whale. Once an area is deemed critical habitat under the Endangered Species Act, all federal agencies must consider the impact of any agency action on that habitat, including fishing permits, shipping lanes, and construction activities. The petition requests that critical habitat include all of the whale's calving grounds off the southeastern U.S., essential feeding grounds in the Northeast, and a critical migratory corridor in between.
