Dr. Ellen Levine, The HSUS, et al. v. Johanns (Poultry slaughter)
Federal court action challenging USDA's exclusion of chickens, turkeys, and other poultry species from the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act of 1958. The exclusion allows 95% of all animals killed for food in the United States to be slaughtered without the protection of federal law.
