Prayers for All Animals
It was the death of her beloved 11-year-old cat Charis that led the Rev. Dr. Susan I. Bubbers to first write a burial litergy "to commemorate her life an mourn her death." Afterward, Bubbers, an ordained Anglican priest, wrote more prayers to help others through their grief and continued with more prayers about animals in happy times. Her efforts led to the book Pet Prayers (Creation House, 2005), which is one of a number of suggested resources on prayers for animals. Praying for animals is not a new or unusal phenomenon. Animals have been acknowledged as a blessing of God's creation through the ages.
