The Fund for Animals and the HSUS have merged
Since 2005 the Humane Society of the United States supported and worked side-by-side with the Fund for Animals to provide lifesaving care for the animals in greatest need. We have deepened our relationship by merging and fully integrating the Fund for Animals into the Humane Society of the United States. The Fund for Animals (which operated Black Beauty Ranch, Duchess Sanctuary and Rural Area Veterinary Services) had been an affiliate of the HSUS and part of its family of organizations since 2005.
This merger makes us even more effective in providing care for animals in crisis. All the work for animals at Black Beauty Ranch, Duchess Sanctuary and Rural Area Veterinary Services will continue at the Humane Society of the United States—and your support will continue to be essential.
If you have an estate plan or other beneficiary gift in place that includes the Fund for Animals and you are looking to update your legal documents, please contact our Office of Planned Giving at 800-808-7858 or email.
The HSUS is the sole surviving entity of the merger, and all estate gifts established for the Fund for Animals legally pass to the HSUS for the benefit of facilities and/or programs previously operated by the Fund for Animals. The HSUS will continue to operate all current Fund for Animals programs (Black Beauty Ranch, Duchess Sanctuary and Rural Area Veterinary Services) and will honor any restricted gifts to support these programs.
