The Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance in partnership with Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance, is launching Animal Sanctuary Appreciation Day on November 1, 2019. The Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch is proud to be a member of the BCSA, GFAS and NAPSA as a fully accredited sanctuary that prioritizes the welfare, safety and care of rescued animals.
Each year on November 1, Animal Sanctuary Appreciation Day will bring a heightened awareness to the critical work of bona fide sanctuaries. Created by the Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance, Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance, Animal Sanctuary Appreciation Day aims to honor genuine sanctuaries and raise public awareness of the important rescue and rehabilitation work over 100 sanctuaries do every single day. The goal of this special day is to help the public identify ethical sanctuaries -- defined as those that do not buy, sell, breed, trade, or exploit their animals for profit, and that those that care for captive wildlife never offer public contact with any wild animal of any age.
“The BCSA has teamed up with our friends and colleagues at the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries and the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance to acknowledge sanctuaries that truly prioritize the welfare, safety and care of rescued animals. We celebrate these facilities and the people who wake up every day and make the world a better place for the animals in their care,” said Noelle Almrud BCSA steering committee chair and director of the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch.
The BCSA brings together 20 sanctuaries and organizations to improve the lives of captive wild cats. One way we do this is by speaking with a strong, unified voice on issues of concern, from exposing inhumane practices to educating the public about the challenges that big cats face in captivity and the wild.
