WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Humane Society of the United States has welcomed Carolyn Everson to its board of directors.
Everson is vice president of the Global Business Group at Facebook and leads the company’s relationships with top marketers and agencies for its family of apps, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. Before joining Facebook, Everson served as the corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Global Advertising Sales and Trade Marketing teams, and as the chief operating officer and executive vice president of U.S. ad sales for Viacom’s MTV Networks. She has been named to AdWeek’s “AdWeek 50” since 2013.
Committed to positive social change, Everson co-founded the Gun Safety Alliance and serves as the chair of WE Day UN, a youth empowerment event. She serves on the boards of the Creative Artists Agency, the Mobile Marketing Association, Effie Worldwide and She Runs It. In addition, Everson is a trustee at Villanova University and an advisory trustee for Montclair Kimberley Academy.
The Everson family is dedicated to rescuing pets and works closely with Adopt-A-Boxer and bulldog rescue organizations. Everson is also a Henry Crown Fellow with the Aspen Institute.
“Carolyn pursues her work with compassion and a commitment to excellence, and we’re honored to have her join our organization,” said Kitty Block, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States.
Everson believes strongly in enlightened leadership, which she defines as “embracing and exhibiting the qualities—like vulnerability, empathy and generosity—that make us inherently human.”
Everson said: “I am honored to join the HSUS board of directors, where I can directly improve the lives of animals globally. It is a perfect match for my passion and desire to have impact that goes beyond what I am able to do in a personal capacity.”
Everson lives in New Jersey with her husband, Doug, their twin daughters, Taylor and Kennedy, and their four dogs.
