WASHINGTON—The Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt Charitable Trust has made a generous donation to the Humane Society of the United States to support our efforts on the ground rescuing and caring for animals in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
Melissa Rubin, senior vice president of animal rescue, care and sanctuary for the Humane Society of the United States, said: “These critical funds are going directly to help our rescue and relief work on the ground with our teams in North Carolina and South Carolina and will pay for the transport of animals out of harm’s way. We are grateful for the ongoing generosity of the Lewyt Charitable Trust and for their passionate support of animal protection during our disaster work and beyond.”
The Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt Charitable Trust is a private foundation charged with the task of carrying on the Lewyts’ pioneering vision of improving the lives of companion animals, reducing animal cruelty and euthanasia rates, and supporting programs for the general betterment of all animals.
