Washington—The Humane Society of the United States has been honored with an Equine Media Award from American Horse Publications (AHP), for its 2018 Protecting America’s Horses Brochure/video collaboration with Tanya Tucker promoting the PAST Act. American Horse Publications is a media organization that works to promote excellence within equine media outlets through education and communication. To further its mission, AHP recognizes outstanding works across various media categories.
The Humane Society of the United States has long been an active member of AHP, helping to inform horse lovers across the country about efforts to promote equine welfare and to fight equine abuse and cruelty.
The HSUS was chosen as a finalist in two categories of the 2019 Equine Media Awards: Business Equine-related Video (two-minutes or under), and Business Equine-related Marketing Promotion (print or digital).
The 2018 video collaboration with country music icon Tanya Tucker advocates for passage of the Prevent All Soring Tactics (PAST) Act and an end to the soring of Tennessee Walking Horses. The HSUS’s 2018 “Protecting America’s Equines” brochure, which was nominated in the Marketing Promotion category, informs the general public and animal advocates about for the HSUS’s efforts to promote the humane management of wild horses and burros, as well its three major equine campaigns: ending soring, ending horse slaughter, and advancing medication reform within the horseracing industry.
“We are very grateful to the American Horse Publications for recognizing our work to help horses nationwide, and we hope that our efforts inspire others to join our cause to fight for all animals,” said Keith Dane, Senior Advisor for Equine Protection at the Humane Society of the United States.
