The Humane Society of the United States welcomes Caren Fleit to its board of directors. Fleit is an experienced leader in marketing and talent management, and a dedicated advocate for animals, actively supporting both local and national animal protection organizations.
After volunteering for years to help homeless pets at local animal shelters, Fleit recognized the need to contribute to national initiatives to help animals through hands-on rescue, education and advocacy, leading her to join the Humane Society of the United States’ New York state council in 2013.
Fleit serves on the board of directors for the Animal Care Centers of New York City, an open-access shelter taking in upwards of 30,000 animals annually, and on the board of directors of the Catskill Animal Sanctuary in New York, a farm animal sanctuary and advocacy organization.
“Caren has been a great advocate for animals and member of our New York state council,” says Kitty Block, acting president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States and president of Humane Society International. “Her professional and philanthropic background make her a natural fit for our board of directors, and I look forward to working with her.”
Fleit is currently a managing director and practice leader at Korn Ferry, a global organizational consulting firm. Prior to joining Korn Ferry, she served in leadership positions at companies such as LVMH, Revlon and Nestle, leading marketing and customer engagement efforts. Fleit received an MBA from INSEAD in France, a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from The Johns Hopkins University and is a graduate of Columbia University’s Coaching Certification Program. She lives in New York City and Ulster County with her 16-year-old rescued dog, Lucy.
