The Animal Rescue Team works with law enforcement to investigate the worst cases of animal abuse nationwide. Every year, we rescue thousands of animals from puppy mills, animal fighting operations, natural disasters and other large-scale situations of cruelty and neglect.
In June of 2017, we rescued 84 Great Danes from filthy conditions inside a New Hampshire mansion. After nine months of caring for the dogs and working with law enforcement, the owner was found guilty on 17 counts of animal cruelty.
The Animal Rescue Team is highly trained and ready to deploy at a moment’s notice. During natural disasters, the team works with local agencies on pre-storm transports, developing pet-friendly evacuation plans, securing food and other resources and emergency field rescue for animals caught in harm’s way.
During the 2017 hurricane season, the Animal Rescue Team was deployed for seven straight weeks, helping over 2,000 animals in the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
We work with over 270 Emergency Placement Partners, which are shelters across the country that we can call on when rescued animals need a safe place to go.
One of our largest deployments in recent years was a neglect case in Georgia, where more than 350 animals were saved, including dogs, cats, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, goats, sheep, a horse and an alpaca.
We never know when disasters will strike or when animals may be in need of urgent rescue, but we know we must be ready. Your gift today will ensure that our team can continue to answer the call during times of emergency wherever and whenever animals need us.
